PRESIDENT JONATHAN COMMISERATES WITH SENATOR EKWEREMADU ON DEATH OF HIS FATHER
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has received with sadness, news of the passing away of His Royal Highness, Igwe Mathias Ekweremadu, the father of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
On behalf of himself, the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria, President Jonathan commiserates with Senator Ekweremadu and the entire Ekweremadu Family of the Anekeoji Mpu Autonomous Community of Enugu State.
As they mourn their father and patriarch of the Ekweremadu family, the President urges Senator Ekweremadu, his siblings and other relatives to take solace in the knowledge that Igwe Ekweremadu lived to a grand old age, and in passing on, has left many worthy and exemplary legacies for his children and members of his community.
President Jonathan prays that God Almighty will grant Igwe Ekweremadu’s soul eternal rest.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu was Principal Partner, Ike Ekweremadu & Co, Legal Practitioners based in Enugu from 1988. The Law Firm operates as a firm of Solicitors and Advocates with emphasis on litigation, property and real estate, commercial and corporate consultancy.
He was the EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, ANINRI LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL, (1997 1998); ASSOCIATE LECTURER, UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, ENUGU CAMPUS - Associates Lecturer in Law at the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria between 1991 and 1997.Lectured in the core areas of Constitutional Law and Labour Law.
Before then, was the CHIEF OF STAFF, GOVERNMENT HOUSE, ENUGU (199 2001) as well as the SECRETARY TO THE ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT, (2001 -2002)
Senator Ike was elected as a SENATOR OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA (2003 2007), DEPUTY PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA (JUNE 2007 DATE). He is the FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER, PARLIAMENT OF THE ECOWAS (SEPTEMBER 2007 - DATE) and CHAIRMAN BOARD OF TRUSTEES/FOUNDER, IKEOHA FOUNDATION
Founded Ikeoha Foundation since entry into public service as Chairman of Aninri LGA in 1997.
