There was  apprehension in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, Tuesday, as friends, business associates and family members anxiously awaited  the report of an  autopsy performed on the late Egba High Chief, Apagun Oluwole Olumide, who reportedly killed himself in an artificial  lake last Friday.

Olumide, a  seasoned Architect and Chairman, Golf Resort, located in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, was reported to have jumped into the lake at the controversial  Golf Resort on Friday evening shortly after he left the Lagos office of the Economic  and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The deceased who was a close associate of former  governor Gbenga Daniel, was buried yesterday at his house in Ita-Eko, Abeokuta after an autopsy report was performed.

It is the report of the autopsy that is the genesis of the current anxiety especially with the speculation that the late Apagun was strangled to death before he was  dumped into the lake as a cover-up.

People were seen streaming to the house of the late Egba Chief with a view to knowing the true nature of the death, while it was rumoured that some aggrieved lovers of the late tourist promoter have perfected plan to stage a protest against the alleged killing of their mentor.

However, Vanguard reliably gathered that,  EFCC might join the police in the investigation as the commission was reported to have expressed interest  in the  process to know the  cause of the death of  Olumide.

When, Vanguard  visited the  residence of late Apagun, a day after his internment, no member of the family was  around as the house was deserted .

In a bid to get the official report of the autopsy, newsmen  laid siege to the police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, but  to no avail.

Attempt to speak with some of the security agencies over the matter hit the brick wall  following what many of them described as sensitive nature of the matter.

An officer in one of the security agencies in the state  who confided in Vanguard said  that it will take more time for the report of the autopsy to be made public.

A family source also told  Vanguard  that family members had earlier scheduled a press conference for yesterday in order to clear the air on several insinuations about the death of late Apagun but that could not hold.
